OUR HISTORY
On May 6, 2001, the House of Prayer Evangelistic Center held it’s first church service at the Arroyo Viejo Park and Recreation Center with about seventy-two members in attendance. When Pastor Erik Nation took the leap of faith stepping out on God’s word he asked no one to follow him, he depended on God for the increase, and today 12 years later we have moved from the park to an auditorium to a home of our own.
On December 23, 1964, Zion Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church held its first service at the home of Apostle & Mrs. A. B. Emerson at 484 McAuley Street in Oakland, CA. with 23 members. Although it was said he would not last and would be back in six months, Pastor Emerson depended solely on God and stood on his faith with a determination not to return but to continue to lead souls to Christ. After 47 years God allowed him to retire from pastoring but never from the presence of the Lord.
In December of 2010, Apostle A.B. Emerson and Pastor Erik Nation under the direction of God, decided to merge Zion Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and House of Prayer Evangelistic Center under the leadership Of Bishop Erik Nation and the church became Zion Tabernacle the House of Prayer.
